So, here's a great run down of the "Snappening" See below -

Here's the deal: the Snappening is 13GB of low resolution garbage. Mundane, boring shit like "check out my new hat!" or "heehee my shoes are so silly!" except you can't even tell that much because it's all in Norwegian. Oh, and yes, they say "swag" over there too. Ugh.

It took me several hours to download the damn zip, and even then, that was a second link somebody posted. The first link was dead within hours, but even as I type this, it is still downloading in jDownloader, plodding on at 30KiB/s. ETA of 1d15h; I don't even know why I've still got it going, but you wanna know a secret? When filesharing sites take down files, they often don't delete the files outright, they just remove the links which explains how I'm still downloading it. I'm sure it will be deleted eventually, but keep that in mind and use a reliable download manager when downloading large, sensitive files.

But we're veering off topic now. It took me 11 hours to unzip it. I got to about 80% and everything slowed to a crawl. It was unzipping maybe 1 file per second and I'm pretty sure I was maxing out everything on my server and running out of memory like crazy because 7zip isn't used to unpacking hundreds of thousands of files.

Why am I telling you this? Because this is probably why people seem to think there's a virus. My computer was acting super wonky and even the internet was slowing down because of how much CPU was getting pumped into unpacking this piece of shit.

The truth is that pictures and videos don't contain viruses. They can't! Anybody who tells you otherwise is dead wrong. The Snappening file is 100% legit and is exactly as advertised. Which is what I would say if they hadn't advertised 200k pictures! There's only ~90k pics and another ~10k vids! Unless there's another batch coming, but I doubt that.

But back to the actual files. Maybe 100MB of actual nudes. Wanna know something else I found interesting? Typical image viewers like IrfanView would actually crash when trying to view the pics because there were SO MANY files in the folder. It exceeded some Windows integer limit (I'm guessing it's the 65535 number) so I had to put the files in separate folders to actually be able to view and scroll through them properly. And trying to do this proved to be a nightmare because of how much thinking my damn computer had to do. I've got a 10000rpm HDD with a quad core and 8GB of RAM and it was plugging along at like USB 1.0 speeds. So I can see where some people might think there's a virus with all this shit going on.

Right, the porn. 100MB of nudes/nude vids. Each vid is like 1MB so right now you can see that the amount of actual content is getting very tiny. So how good is the <1% of worthwhile content? Well, if you enjoy blurry, grainy, and low res poor quality amateur pics, then you'll love The Snappening.

And you know how they said it would be searchable? Well, the original site, viralpop.com, sorta was, but this mess of a file? All random numbers. The only reason you guys are interested in this is to find people you know. You won't find anybody you know.

Here's another screenshot. You have no idea how long it took for me to find one with boobs. And boobs + face? Get out of here. Here are the full sizes in case by some miracle of the gods, you recognize them. EDIT: Can't believe I missed the black and white pic. That's a surprisingly good one!

Don't think the above is at all representative of the rest of the zip. It was not easy finding such a good screenshot. You're better off looking up "best of" torrents and blogs. They are out there. What a monumental waste of a weekend.

I hope this at least dispels some of the bullshit going around about The Snappening, if anybody actually reads this."

You'd be better off going to a porn site with "free" samples if you are looking to get you fap fap on.

Wow thanks Ecks, that was actually very helpful and surprisingly good and interesting! I was indecisive whether or not wast time to search for that Snappening pics. Now i know, i won´t! lol.
That 'best of' thing sounded a but interesting, tough.

All I can advice you about the snappening is don't bother man. I've gone through it and it can totally be called garfuckingbage.
You'll download gb's of data and all you got is silly cat, dog, car, food and school photos and silly videos.
GB's of video and totally only 49MB of it has some action can be called erotic.
Beside %85 of it only kids and that sucks... Disgusting!
So don't bother, fappening is a heaven if compared....

I went through the d/l that was 852 videos and there was maaaaayebe 20 or so "good" videos (using that term VERY loosely) and of that half of them were super shity quality. And really, who wants to see a whole 10 seconds of someone adjusting a phone and maybe getting a 4 second shot? It was a waste of time.

Now the pics?? I maybe in for that. LOL
