Another Update, maybe?

So, I'm sure everyone has noticed that everything has grinded to a screeching halt at this point. I see new posters, new contributions, and more often than not reposts, but nothing is drawing the old crowd that we had. As such, I'll be doing a couple things to kinda liven up with the new look.

Before I start with that, let's all welcome Wicked back! As I'm sure everyone has noticed the yellow name that Wicked has, it's a designation of Forum Moderator status. He'll be working in the Celebrities Forum, moving posts and deleting spam as he sees fit. Let's give Wicked as much support as we can!

So, as I said, we've got a few things that need to be taken care of.

First, we all know there's still a lot of confusion as to how everything needs to be separated. I'm more than willing to take any suggestions into serious consideration at this point.

Second, I've been given permission from root to add an anti-spam mod to the forum. This mod will check any registered e-mail addresses and IP addresses against an off-site database, keeping things a LOT cleaner. With that idea.....

Finally, and one that I'll be talking to root about, I'm thinking about adding a few other mods to the site, such as the "Thanks" mod, and perhaps a "Karma" mod. I once saw a "User Gallery" mod, but I think that would be taking things a little too far. If you know of any other mods you'd like to see, let me know. All mods need to come from the phpBB.com database located here. URLs are best, but if you can't find what you're looking for, just describe it.

I'll be going over the Suggestions/Feedback forum, so either post here or there. Here is preferred, for now. Let's keep the forum and the Fappening alive!!!

I think the main draw of the past was the ability of this site to carry the "definitive" collection of the Fappening leaks. root's original albums, then the torrent, and finally the forum, allowed people to post additional sources once DCMA notices were sent out. The fact that new leaks have dried up everywhere means the core crowd who came here specifically looking for leaks will not be back.

I guess I'm more of the folks who come here with an appreciation for both leaks and for sexy celebrities, and how it's become a collection point of interesting celebrity pics and vids.

First, we all know there's still a lot of confusion as to how everything needs to be separated. I'm more than willing to take any suggestions into serious consideration at this point.

I fully agree. Posters really have to start putting posts in the right place. I've started putting my posts into the new folders as necessary. I'm thinking if Wicked can focus on sorting/moving the Leak and Non-Leak folder, and start to fill up the new folders, it will help. I suspect people continue to use Leaks and Non-Leaks for everything simply because everything seems to go into those two.

I think we need to update and clean up the folder descriptions. For example, you added a Paparazzi Pics folder, but the Non-Leaks folder still has a description that says "...paparazzi shots, etc."

I think the folders should be roughly used to cover the following:

Leaks - hacked photos and sextapes, but not including BTS, OUttakes...
Non-Leaks - Sexy/kinky/naughty non-leak of "mainstream" celebrities here. Screen grabs from television/movies, photoshoots, red carpet. Note that Models, and Amateurs have their own areas below).
Fakes - Good as is.
Real Or Fake - Good as is.
Non-English Speaking Celebrities - Good as is.
Paparazzi Pics - Good as is.
Appreciation Threads - Specific collections of celebrity photos, clothed or not. One thread per celebrity.

I would love to see most of the posts involving models in Non-Leaks moved into the Model area. What defines a model vs. a movie/television celebrity? What she is best known for. Kate Upton is best known as a model, although she has done movies. Elizabeth Hurley is best known as an actress although she got her start more as a model.

Finally, and one that I'll be talking to root about, I'm thinking about adding a few other mods to the site, such as the "Thanks" mod, and perhaps a "Karma" mod. I like the "Thanks" or "Karma" mods. It allows us to show a poster we appreciate his/her post without resorting to just using a reply.

Anyways, those are my thoughts. Hope they are helpful.

And as always, thanks for the continued efforts soliciting feedback from us like this!

Had another thought. Is there a "Fake" mod to let users flag whether a posting is fake or not? 5 or 10 votes and it gets moved to the Fake folder. Right now, the only way we can voice our opinion is to write a reply and hope you or a moderator happen to read the thread.

Unfortunately, I think something like that would need to be coded specific for us. phpBB, which is the board software we use, has upgraded to v3.1, which is newer than what we're on. All the mods there are starting to migrate, which is causing issues, including one with the anti-spam software I'm adding. I'll keep looking, though, and encourage everyone to help. Just check the link I posted in the OP. And thank you for the feedback, wip.

I don't have a whole lot of additional input on the subject, but just wanted to say Congrats Wicked!

And that I full support the Karma and Thanks mods. I know I said in the past that I'm more likely to give "thanks" than post a reply, even in posts I do like. So I love that idea.

I knew there wasn't anything wrong with my computer! Welcome back sir.

I've been doing what i can with the spam on daily bases so that anti-spam thing, it's a great idea! And now with Wicked helping will be a lot more easy.
And i also agree that the mods idea is great, showing we support the poster without just replying to every post.

So that being said, awesome work LilFapperMan, az usge and again, welcome back Wicked.

Alrighty. So, I've got a "Requests"-style subforum to add, and definitely the "Thanks" mod on the list so far! If you're curious about the subforum, check here. That should give you a good idea of what's meant by requests. I've also got to update the forum descriptions. I'm not so eloquent when it comes to describing, so any suggestions are welcome! The "Karma" mod is still being considered. And the update to the anti-spam mod is ready! I'm just waiting for root to PM me with a go, just in case something bad happens. Any other ideas just need to be voiced!

EDIT: Just got word from root, and it looks like we're a go! I'll be uploading the anti-spam mod around 1am EST, so expect a possible downtime of maybe 5 minutes!

Well, guys, don't shoot the messenger.....

Because of a conflict with the server, I'll be unable to install any mods as of right now. I've contacted root about the issue, but it'll be up to him if he wants to make the changes. As I told him, we've done well so far without the mods, so if we can't get them, I'm sure we'll be OK. Right? Right. I'll keep everyone posted if anything changes. Thanks, guys!!!

Well that sucks! Hopefully something can be done to at least get us the "thanks" mod. :P

I have a suggestion for a new subforum though...a "links" subforum. That way people can stop posting general links to other websites in the other subforums and they'd be contained to one. Maybe under the "Other" sub heading?

I don't mind having links in the main posts... what I'd really wish posters would do is at least provide previews/thumbnails so I can determine if I really want to visit that link. I'd rather just have a forum rule that says external links need to include preview thumbnails. :)

I'd be cool with that too. But the links in the main post should be a direct link to the specific content...not just a general link to a random website homepage. If there was a rule put in place that any link has to be a direct link to the content in the subject line *and* include preview thumbs/pics, I'd be totally on board with that. 8-)

As I said in a different thread, everything's been moved around a bit better, and descriptions have been updated. Let me know what you guys think! Still waiting to hear from root about the mod installations. I'll keep everyone posted!

Side note, I have no clue why your quote didn't display right, snap, but I'll be looking into it. :D

So here's a question.

Now that we've got new forums organised, what's the process to move posts into their proper place?

For example, viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1226 and viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1844 started in the "Non-Leaks" before the reorg and ludvig966 added new pics today. They should now go into the Models section.

Is this something the mods will do when they have time? Or will this be monitored on new postings or existing posting that get replies and float to the top? Or should we help flag it for the mods? On the other hand, I don't want to flood your inbox with flags :)

Just wondering.

Yes, moving topics will be something done by mods. As I said in a different post, please use the report button. It's very hard to go through every single post, even though there are six moderators at this point. If everyone will do that, we'll be able to move topics much quicker.

As for the actual mods that will be installed, I'm still waiting. Also, many congrats to snapsnap. I felt that even though he hasn't posted a lot, he's really contributed a lot to this community. I'm still on the hunt for one more Forum Moderator, so keep an eye on your PMs. You never know..... ;)

Until I get use to everything. I'll hold off on moving stuff. I don't want to fuck anything up.

Well, moving things are fairly easy. At the bottom right of a topic page is a drop-down menu (available for moderators, of course). Click it, choose "Move Topic", click Go, uncheck "Leave Shadow Topic", and select the proper forum. Easy peazy.
