URL shorteners

Any chance that these can be outlawed? An example is bit.ly. If a URL isn't in plain text for me to see where it's taking me, I don't click it. It's too easy for some user to redirect someone to a nefarious site, pay for clicks site, etc. I think it would be better for the forums overall if these were not allowed.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, and because of the minimal set of rules root has listed, I can't really do much with it. We'll have to wait for his response. If you're not sure about a link, don't click it. That's got to be like rule number 0 of the internet.

Please, if not for safety then do it for not having to wait 5 seconds per link...
